Growing fast!

It's been a very full 2 months in our home.  Lots of excitement and lots of joy!
First, as you all know, we are expecting our second son in January! We are completely thrilled, and we are currently 21 weeks along. In lieu of a name, he is currently going by "Thumper", a reference to the fact that he is even more wiggly than Jonathan!

Baby See #2!!!

We've started making a few preparations, though its a little slower going this time, as big brother likes to "help".

With his "toolkit"

Jonathan is doing beautifully.  When he started walking at 10 months, he didn't really fall much.  He just started walking, then within a few weeks, it was like he'd been at it for months.  The same thing appears to be happening with speech.  He has been using simple words up till about last month, when he suddenly started talking in sentences, using words we didn't know he knew! He will ask questions "What is it?" and tell you what he's doing "I'll sit down" or even "I'm stuck!".  It's been a lot of fun to converse with him; we can't understand everything he says, but he lacks no confidence!

He's started back at Mother's Day Out on Wednesdays; he seems to have a good time, and we figure it's never too early to learn how to get along with others.  We also took swim lessons this summer - he loves the water!

Sarah has been doing occasional shifts in an ER on Saturdays, and those have been very busy. But by God's grace, she has not caught any of the weird illnesses that she's seen there.  Raphael has been working long hours, but they should improve soon as several colleagues return from leave.

We've also been traveling again.  In mid-August, we took a trip to New Orleans for the family reunion/wedding of a cousin.  We arrived a few days early and stayed at a hotel in the French Quarter. We had a great time walking around and eating beignets and muffalettas!

We took Jonathan to the Louisiana Children's Museum, where he loved the make-believe grocery store.  We also went to the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas and saw lots of interesting exhibits with Grandaddy and Mimi.

On Saturday, we even got to see a little New Orleans color as we walked around!

That evening was the wedding.  It was a beautiful service, and it was wonderful to see all of the family.  Jonathan had a great time at the reception and slept really well that night!

Sunday, we said good-bye to family and headed to Orange Beach, Alabama.  We stayed on the beach for 2 nights and ate a ton of delicious Gulf seafood!  Jonathan loved the water - it was so clear, you could see fish and all sorts of aquatic creatures. Raphael even got pinched by a crab!

After we got back, Jonathan transitioned from his crib to a toddler bed.  He seems to like the bed, but its a bit of a challenge getting him to stay in it!
