As of yesterday, we are term. Sarah has been joking that our baby is now welcome to come at any time. Well, perhaps he caught wind of that, because Sarah started having regular contractions out of the blue that Sunday night. Not terrible, wrenching, clutch-your-abdomen-and-fall-down contractions, but still contractions nevertheless. We called our OB's nighttime answering service, who paged the on-call covering OB, who advised us that since the contractions weren't terrible that it would be okay to wait it out for now. So we did. Sarah even got a little sleep.
This morning we got worked into our OB's clinic schedule as an add-on, and after he checked her, he advised us that there some changes consistent with labor, but that there was no telling how long it might take before full-on active labor ensued. "It might be soon, but then again, it might even be weeks - although I doubt it."
We were somewhat disappointed, but there's really nothing to do but wait for now. Thankfully, the baby is term now, so even if he came right now, it would be okay.
